MLK Jr. African American Heritage Rodeo of Champions

On January 21, 2013 a landmark celebration will take place that is centered around the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.  For the seventh consecutive year, the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) will have a Black Rodeo. 

What makes this different is that there is no other stock show in the country that features the same rodeo format that Colorado has.  The NWSS by introducing a Black Cowboy Rodeo, will feature four different rodeos under one roof.  The National Western Stock Show will host the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) Rodeo, the Mexican Rodeo, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rodeo, and the 2013 MLK Jr. African American Heritage “Rodeo of Champions”.  No other stock show in the country has this line-up.  The significance of Black cowboys and cowgirls will be featured and bring awareness to those who may not otherwise know the history.
